From: dave.love@btinternet.com To: "Internet Speedway Fan Club List"Subject: Ipswich 34 King's Lynn 58 Date: Thu, 13 Jul 2000 22:57:58 +0100 Well, what can you say. The scoreline actually flattered the Witcehs, who tumbled without fight to what can only be described as their worst ever home defeat - made even worse because it was at the hands of King's Lynn. Certainly the roles were well and truly reversed from a couple of years ago when the Witches racked up big scores at Saddlebow Road. The main difference between then and now is that the 1998 KL team was poor and didn't expect to win, but still went out and gave their best against a rampant Ipswich team. Tonight, the Witches were totally out-thought and out-raced. Whether it was a reaction from Monday night, or whether it was just one of those (K)nights, there can be no excuses, and I mean no excuses. The loss of Lol Hare made no difference - he wouldn't have stopped the visitors going into a 7-23 lead after 5 heats! Chris Louis emerged with a little credit, but the rest were awful - well and truly beaten by a King's Lynn team who showed what team spirit and encouragement is all about, with every man performing at his best from top to bottom line-up. Scores: Louis 2 2 4 3 2 3 16 Bunyan R/R (3+2) Svab 0 1 1+ 1 1 4+1 Ferjan 1 0 1+ 0 1 1 4+1 Gollob 1 2 1 3 0 1 8 Doncaster 0 2 0 0 0 0 2 Hare 0 0 (withdrawn injured after one ride) King's Lynn Crump 3 3 3 1 10 McGowan 1 2+ 3 2+ 0 8+2 Boyce 3 1 2 2 8 Parker 2+ 3 0 3 8+1 Adams 3 3 2+ 3 2 13+1 ADryml 1 0 3 0 4 Madsen 3 2+ F 2+ 7+2 Highlights: Heat 4: Magnificent ride by Madsen to burst under Gollob at the end of lap one, and then race the Pole for a whole lap, enabling Adams to squeeze through, before Gollob gave up and toddled round in third place with Doncaster well, well behind. Heat 7: Hard ride by Gollob to come under Boyce and take 2nd place - but Parker was well ahead. 12-30 after this heat. Heat 8: Witches first ever GDTS at home resulted in failure, with Louis catching Ferjan after one lap :-) but struggling to pass Madsen who finally fell on the third bend (lap 3 I think), probably trying just that bit too hard. MCGowan was well away by then. Interval - I took Terry H's push bike into the pits and volunteered to ride in Red in Heat 9. Mike Smillie smiled, but Magda looked at me quite icily. Heat 9: Dryml gates and is joined by Adams to team ride home ahead of Svab and Ferjan. Heat 10: Louis and Ferjan gate, but Louis doesn't team ride, and Ferjan is passed by Boyce after a couple of laps. Heat 13: Adams superb blast all the way round the outside of Louis and Gollob from gate 4. Crump was at the back, but after three laps Gollob for some reason decided to visit the fence on the second bend, got stuck in the deep stuff and gave up (for once I sympathise with those of you on the list who have complained about Gollob's attitude - see heat 15 for a good example). Heat 14: Madsen wraps up a fine night's work. Heat 15: Nice gesture by Lynn to let McGowan take a nominated ride, and he held third place behind Louis and Adams for a while, but then Gollob burst under McGowan on the first bend, and the young Aussie found himself stuck in the deep stuff by the fence. Did he give up? No, he showed superb control and rode hard for the remainder of the race, even in last place. That, more than anything, signified the difference between the two teams on the night. Man of the Match - definitely Tom Madsen, who seems to really enjoy riding at Ipswich, but closely followed by McGowan - another super prospect. So Ipswich have condemned themselves to mid-table obscurity, and King's Lynn look likely to go on to win their first ever Championship - and they are riding as a genuine team, so should do it deservedly. Ironically, the Witches, if they can get their act together, could push the Knights in the elusive KO Cup 2nd Leg fixture ... but on tonight's evidence, I shan't hold my breath. Cheers, Dave Love PS: Fixture change on Thursday 20th, it's now Eastbourne the visitors to Foxhall. > >

My name is Andrew, and I'm an ex-patriot Wolverhampton fan. Because I live in the speedway wilderness known as the American Mid-West, and away from all the action, I tend not to post to the list. However, I do enjoy reading the latest news, results and banter between list members. I am wondering if anyone has successfully viewed the Wolves v. Ipswich video clip on the SkySports web site. Being able to see the lads in action from this far afield would be absolutely tremendous, but I can't get it to work. The video is in "Windows Media Player" format, and although I have the player on my Mac (Yes, I have one of THOSE), it's not the most robust performer. Why oh why can't they use "Quicktime"? That would make me a very happy camper indeed. I would be grateful if someone could check out the link to make sure it's working and eliminate that as the problem. The link for the page containing the video is: http://www.sky.com/sports/video/index.htm#99 You'll need to scroll down a little and select the "Speedway" link. Hope it works for you guys. Cheers, Andrew :-) PS I would like to thank Mark Lawton for a "Bostin'" Wolverhampton Speedway website. They should make it official! Your reporting Pi**es all over the E & S (not too difficult really, is it?) Keep up the good work!
From: karl.iat@dial.pipex.com To: "Internet Speedway Fan Club List"Subject: RE:Sky sports & Ipswich/Lynn Date: Fri, 14 Jul 2000 14:00:57 +0100 To Andrew Caddick: Don't worry, it's not a fault with your machine as I have also tried to get the video clips from the sky site on 2 separate machines and all it does is bring up a box with' loading' showing but no matter how long you leave it, nothing happens! I also tried other clips, not just speedway, with the same results. Perhaps I'll send and E-mail to them. Ipswich vs King's Lynn: Well what a great evening for Witches fans! - still, we can't win em all but it had to be Lynn didn't it! With such a good match last week against Poole it was a shame the weather caused the track to be unusually very slick with nearly every race won before the first lap was over - but as they say, it's the same for both teams. Perhaps Ferjan parading his Continental Champion trophy was bad luck and on last nights showing he still has some way to go to be anything other than Andy Smiths travel companion in the Grand Prix next year!! Full marks to King's Lynn who just seemed that much keener and were certainly swift out of the starts and racing hard for all 4 laps whereas Ipswich didn't look like they wanted to win (Chris Louis apart). Best of luck to them with the league this year as who knows, they may have to wait another number of decades before winning anything again!! Cheers Karl ps Methinks the KO Cup match at Saddlebow will be more keenly contested by both sides.

Not exactly a clip to entice people to watch speedway!! Ruth -----Original Message----- From: T. It will be virtually impossible to hold speedway in the newly designed stadium. Many items from the old stadium are being auctioned online at http://www.qxl.com Items will include the Royal Box, seats, pieces of turf, as well as items related to speedway, such as programmes and photographs. For example, an England v Australia 1951 Test Match programme has currently reached 9 UK pounds. To see what is available, go to the site and click on "Wembley" For collectors, the site is worth a look. Brian Collins __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get Yahoo! Re-run saw Jinny win easily and Lukas almost catch Nicki Pedersen on the line Heat 5 - Adam Skornicki ; Steve Johnston ; Jan Staechmann ; Jesper B Jensen ; 59.7 (3-3)(16-14) Jensen suprisingly left at the back after a top quality first coprner from Skornicki to rounfdJohno Heat 6 - Mark Lemon ; Todd Wiltshire ; Nicki Pedersen ; Wayne Carter ; 59.3 (5-1)(21-15) A blistering gate from Lemo, with the Wolves pair heading Todd to the corner. For some reason Pedersen decided to shut out Carter as he came round him allowing Todd to pass them both on the inside Heat 7 - Jesper B Jensen ; Jimmy Nilsen ; Ales Dryml ; Ronnie Correy(R) ; 60.1 (3-3)(24-18) Wolves set for a 5-1 when Correy EF's when clearly ahead Heat 8 - Jesper B Jensen ; Mark Lemon ; Adam Skornicki ; Lukas Dryml ; 59.7 (2-4)(26-22) Cracking race between Jensen and Lemon with both passing and repassing each other. Seeing two guys race full out giving each other the room to do so was a joy. Full credit to both of them Heat 9 - Nicki Pedersen ; Jan Staechmann ; Wayne Carter ; Steve Johnston(R) ; 60.4 (2-4)(28-26) Johno packed up on first corner and the Wolves pair sat on a 5-1. Pedersen made a mistake on the 4th bend buggering up Carter again (he must love riding with Pedersen) Heat 10 - Jesper B Jensen ; Ronnie Correy ; Mark Lemon ; Todd Wiltshire(X) ; (1-5)(29-31) Oxford went with 3 riders only after Wiltshire withdraw from the meeting due to illness and Lemo was no match Heat 11 - Jimmy Nilsen ; Nicki Pedersen ; Ales Dryml ; Adam Skornicki ; 60.1 (4-2)(33-33) Comfortable win for Jimmy with Ales chasing down Skornicki and passing him on the last bend. Skornicki's bike then packed up but I fancy Ales may have already passed him Heat 12 - Jesper B Jensen ; Steve Johnston ; Lukas Dryml ; Wayne Carter ; 60.0 (3-3)(36-36) Johno from the start and yet again the superb Jensen from the back Heat 13 - Jimmy Nilsen ; Nicki Pedersen ; Adam Skornicki ; Lukas Dryml ; (3-3)(39-39) Again the superb Nilsen made an electric gate Heat 14 - Roman Povazhny ; Ronnie Correy ; Jan Staechmann ; Ales Dryml ; 61.0 (1-5)(40-44) Roman mde a decent start and was ushered to the front by Ronnie for an easy 5-1 Heat 15 - Jimmy Nilsen ; Ronnie Correy ; Steve Johnston ; Jesper B Jensen ; 61.0 (4-2)(44-46) Absorbing race saw the Wolves pair split the Oxford pair. Johno managed to come round both the Wolves but switched back to the inside and got caught up behind Jimmy allowing Correy to get by agaiun. Jensen then went by Johno only for Johno to pass himn again on the last lap , only just failing to catch Correy on the line. A superb effort from Johno So the Cheetahs poor run continues. Clearly losing Todd after 2 rides was the deciding factor as he was looking very quick, posting the fastest time of the season in Heat 1. Lemo was a lot better and hopefully he has turned the corner. Johno had an off night but almost done the business in Heat 15. Jimmy was superb for a man who is not 100% fit albeit he done his first over the first 15 metres. Thg eDryml boys are getting better with each meeting. For those who said they weren't even PL standard..... come and have a look now, they are looking decent riders. Oxford's problem is getting Staek out of the start, once out he is as quick as anyone and doesn't lose ground. You just can't give guys a head start at this level and make it up. Don't really know what the problem is but if we could fix it I reckon we could mix it with most teams For Wolves, well they were excellent. R/R only produced 5 points so in some way it cancels out Todd but Wolves have 4 heat leaders. Skornicki had his quietest Oxford meeting biut still won an important race, Correy was excellent, his best Oxford perfermance for years. I will remember Pedersen's performance more for thw way his inadvertently stuffed up Carter twice than anything else. Both reserves were unlucky not to score more as Carter was in scoring positions when Pedersen impeded him. Roman came good to effectively win the meeting. Still no-one at Cowley begrudges Roman anything, he was even cheered after Heat 14 such is the man's popularity. Oxford's season is in danger of wilting, we need to win home matches to keep people coming and the threat of further team changes appears to be looming after a local radio interview before this evening's match. We wait and see As ever good to see Steve Wright and Mark Lawton, ever fair in their assessment of the evening. Chris Brown The Official Lawrence Hare Website http://come.to/hare ICQ: 10766338
