Mid-America Motorcycle Speedway
The final race of the 2009 Mid America Speedway season will be held this Sunday, November, 1st. Practice will start at 12:00, and racing will start at 2:00pm. The weather this season has forced us to cancel nearly half of our races this year, so don’t miss out on this chance to ride one last time before the season is over.
The economy has made this a difficult season for all of our riders, sponsors, and spectators. We have not been immune from the issues that everybody is facing as witnessed by decreased rider and spectator counts this year. Please show your support and try to attend this final event of 2009. While you are at it, try to bring a new face to the races, and introduce them to the exciting sport of flat track racing
We have already had several folks ask about our 2010 schedule. We hope to have the schedule out by mid-December. As in years past, we are going to work with the other Indiana , Ohio , and Illinois tracks, and the AMA Pro Flat track schedule. We do know that we will have our fair race on Saturday, July 24th, and the 2010 Midwest Speedway Championships and Quad Invitational on Friday, August 27th.
There will not be any more practice sessions in 2009. Practice will resume in May of 2009. Once the weather breaks and the track is ready we will post practice dates at www.midamspeedway.com
See you at the races!

Once again Mother Nature has thrown a wrench in our spokes. We are going to have to cancel the October 17th event at Mid America Speedway due to the amount of rain that we received this week.
Our next event is Sunday, November 1st. Practice will start at noon, and racing will start at 2:00pm.
There will not be a practice this Wednesday, October 21st. We are considering doing a practice on Saturday, October 24th. We would ride from 11a-4pm. If you are interested in attending, please drop us a note, and if we get enough response we will have the practice. Either way, we will post something on the website next Friday evening.
As of the time of this email, Bunker Hill is still on for Sunday, October 18th.
See you at the races!

Mid-America Motorcycle Speedway
This has been a brutal race season at Mid America Motorcycle Speedway. Once again the rain that we received over the past few days has forced us to cancel the October 10th event. Our next race is October 17th. Practice will start at 4:00 and we will race at 6:00. The event that was scheduled for October 31st has been moved to Sunday, November 1st. Practice will start at noon, and racing will start after practice and any necessary track maintenance. There will also be open practices on October 14th, 21st, and 28th.
During the rider’s meeting at the last event, we had to announce a change to the way rider payout is handled. Starting with the October 17th event the Open Quad, 450, Open Bike and Speedway classes will pay back 75% of the entry fees that are collected for that class. All other adult classes will compete for trophies. We want everybody to understand that this was a very difficult decision to make, but in light of the current economy our choices were to either raise entry fees, or to reduce payout if we were to continue to race at the Marion County Fairgrounds. We hope that every one understands the position that we are in and continues to support the track.
Sincerely,
The staff of Mid-America Motorcycle Speedway

Subject: Mid-America Speedway News
This is reminder that Mid America Motorcycle Speedway will be racing this Saturday, October 3rd. Practice for all classes will begin at 4:00 and racing will begin at 6:00. We have spent the last two weeks preparing the track for these last few races. All of the riders that made it to our practice this past Wednesday felt the track was smooth and offered plenty of traction.
We also have event on October 10th. This will be an Indiana Flat Track Association event. Youth classes will practice at 2:00 and race right after practice. Adult classes will practice at 4:00 and race at 7:00. If practice is completed early, and the track is ready to go, we will most likely start the heats early.
October 17th is our next to last race of the season, and is a Mid-America points night. Practice for all classes will begin at 4:00 and racing will begin at 6:00.
We had scheduled an event for October 31st, not realizing that this was Halloween. We are going to move this event from Saturday, October 31st, to November 1st. This is the final race of the Mid-America points series, and the final race of the year at Mid-America. Practice will start at noon, and racing will start after practice.
We need to ask for the support of all of the riders and spectators that support flat track racing in Indiana . This has been a brutal year on us. Between the economy and the rain outs we need as many people to attend these last few events. It is also a good time to introduce some new riders and spectators to this sport.
See you at the races!

Mid-America postponed to October 3rd
We are going to have to post phone tonight’s race to next Saturday, October 3rd due to all of the rain that we received this week. Practice will start at 4:00 and racing will start at 6:00. There will be a practice starting at 12:30 tomorrow.
Last week’s races were some of the best of the year, with Ricky Leak winning both the Open and 450cc classes. Ken Maynard finished on the podium in three classes. Nathan Siegel won the Open Quad class after spending most the summer in England riding speedway, and BJ Fesselmeyer took home his first ever main event win in the Speedway class. The youth classes provided plenty of excitement with Kevin Stollings jr. and Danny Dotson jr. making the adult riders fearing the day that they move up to the big bikes. A big thank you goes out to all of the riders and IFTA members that kept the program moving. We ran all of the practice sessions, heats, and main events in just under six hours.
The next race at Mid-America Motorcycle Speedway is this Saturday, September 26th. All classes will practice at 4:00 and racing will start at 6:00. This will be the third event in the Mid-America point’s series. Many of the classes are still up for grabs so don’t miss out on this opportunity to earn some points before the season is over.
The economy has been tough on everybody this year, and Mid-America is no different as we have experienced decreased spectator attendance, rider counts, sponsorship, and five events cancelled due to rain. We would like to challenge each rider to bring two new people to each of the next four races.
See you at the races!

Update from Mid-America Motorcycle Speedway
Information sent out on Monday incorrectly indicated that the Marion County Fair race that is going to be held on July 25th would be an Indiana Flat Track Association points paying event. July 25th will pay points toward the Mid-America series, and not IFTA. Gates will open at 2:00pm, and practice will begin at 4:00 with racing starting at 6:00.
We are also going to have to move the August 1st event to August 15th due to a scheduling conflict. When the 2009 schedule was put out, we inadvertently scheduled a race for the same day that a demolition derby will be taking place on the infield giving us no choice but to reschedule. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused, but in this case we had little choice but to reschedule. This will be a Mid-America points paying race with all classes practicing at 4:00 and racing at 6:00
Our Sport Bike night which was rained out on July 11th has been rescheduled for August 8th. This is an IFTA points paying event, so the youth classes will practice at 2:00, and race at 3:00. The adult classes will practice at 5:00 and race at 7:00. The owner of the nicest sport bike will receive $100 cash.
The weather is just not giving us any breaks this year, and the July 11th even was cancelled due to all of the rain that we received. The track was in near perfect shape on Saturday morning, and then the rain started coming down. Even though it stopped raining several times, we had to make the difficult decision to cancel the event. Perhaps the most disappointed rider was Chris Hesmer who made a nearly 600 mile trip from Brantford , Ontario, Canada only to see the front straight resembling a small lake than a race track.
The lineup for the August 28th Midwest Speedway Championship and Quad Invitational is shaping up nicely. We currently have commitments from riders from Argentina , England , Scotland , Poland , Canada , Indiana , Illinois , Missouri , Florida , North Carolina , and Ohio . This is sure to be a great night to come out and see some of the best speedway and quad riders ever assembled in the Midwest, on the largest regularly run speedway track in the US. Tickets will be $20 each on this night, and will be available in advance. Please remember that all riders must pre-enter. Quad riders, if you are interested in entering this event please send in your letter of intent. More information and a link to the letter of intent can be found at:

Midwest Speedway Championships
The Midwest Speedway Championships which will be held on Friday, August 28th which is the same weekend as the Indianapolis MotoGP. Update from Mid-America Motorcycle Speedway
We wanted to send out a note to thank everybody that attended the June 13th event. The weather was a concern the entire day, yet somehow we were able to complete the event with only one weather delay. Hopefully as we move further into summer and onto our next event on July 11th we will be able to have an event where rain is not in the forecast. We also want to thank the Christian Motorcyclists Association for helping with the flagging and pit gate duties at our last two races. They are a great group of people and make the events run smoother for everybody.
We want to remind everybody that our July 11th event is Sport bike night at Mid-America Speedway. The winner of the nicest sport-bike will receive $100. The best part is that everybody that rides in and purchases a grandstand ticket is automatically entered. We will have a designated parking area underneath the grandstand area for all motorcycles and the winner of the $100 will be announced during the intermission just before the heats begin. What could be better than coming out and watching some great racing and taking home $100? Please note that we have added some classes to the Mid-America class structure and we are going to move the start time up one hour. Gates will open at 2:00, practice for all classes will start at 4:00, and racing will start at 6:00.
Practice on Wednesday, June 17th has been cancelled due to all of the rain that we received on Tuesday. We will be holding practices on Saturday, June 20th, and Saturday June 27th from 4:00pm until 9:00pm.
See you at the races!

The start of the 2009 Mid-America Speedway season is just a few days away. We will be holding an open practice this Saturday, May 2nd, and then again on again on May 9th. We will keep the gates open as long as there are riders willing to ride, or up until our 11:00pm curfew.
