Wolverhampton 44
Ronnie Correy 2' 1' 3 0 6+2
Jesper B Jensen 3 2 3 1 0 9
Nicki Pedersen 3 2 1 2 9
Alun Rossiter 2' 1' 0 3 6+2
Sam Ermolenko 3 1 2 1 1 8
Adam Scornicki 3 0 1' 0 4+1
Wayne Carter 1 1 0 0 2
Heat
1. Jensen, Correy, Wiltshire, Povahzny XF (1-5)
Frightening crash involving Roman when he straightened and hit
Todd's rear wheel. Easy 5-1 for the Wolves in the rerun
2. Skornicki, Underwood, Carter, L Dryml Fell Rm (3-9)
Easy win for Skornici. Underwood nearly leading from the gate with
Dryml tucked in in 3rd. Dryml fell entering 1st bend too tightly
allowing Carter through who never threatened Underwood
3. Pedersen, Rossiter, A Dryml, Johnston EF (4-14)
Johnston from the tapes only to pack up on the back straight for an
easy 5-1
4. Ermolenko, Nilsen, Carter, Underwood (6-18)
Comfortable win for Sam
5. Johnston, Jensen, Correy, A Dryml (9-21)
Again won from the tapes this time by Johnston
6. Wiltshire, Johnston, Ermolenko, Skornicki (14-22)
The start of the fightback with Tac Sub Johno following Todd home
7. Nilsen, Pedersen, Rossiter, Underwood (17-25)
Again a tapes to line win
8. Jensen, Wiltshire, L Dryml, Carter (20-28)
Todd in as a Tac Sub and leading from the gate only to be superbly
lined up and passed by Jensen
9. Johnston, Ermolenko, Skornicki, A Dryml (23-31)
Johno from the tapes with Dryml tucking in in 3rd. Fine outside pass
by Skornicki, passing Dryml coming out of Turn 4 with speed
10. Wiltshire, Nilsen, Pedersen, Rossiter Ret (28-32)
Comfortable 5-1 with Rossiter giving up at the back
11. Correy, Nilsen, Jensen, L Dryml (30-36)
Won again from the gate. Dryml made a much better start and was
passed on the inside by Jensen
12. Pedersen, A Dryml, Underwood, Skornicki EF (36-40)
The race that looked like the problem. Luckily for Oxford
Skornicki packed up on the line or I fancy a Wolves 5-1 was on the cards.
13. Wiltshire, Nilsen, Ermolenko, Correy (38-40)
Superb gate from Gate 3 from Jimmy taking him up to Todd for the
5-1
14. Rossiter, Johnston, L Dryml, Carter (41-43)
Oxford's chances looked to have gone with a fine ride by Rossiter
covering every move made by Johno. Carter falls keeping Oxford in the
meeting
15. Nilsen, Wiltshire, Ermolenko, Jensen (46-44)
Sam from the gate passed by Nilsen out of turn 4 with a spectacular
pass, switching from the outside to the inside to force his way through.
Wiltshire followed when Ermolenko went very wide on lap 3. Jensen fell at
the back.
A fine win for the Cheetahs from a seemingly impossible position. Whether
they would have come back in an EL meeting who knows. The track has changed
somewhat from last year with 200 tonnes of shale being removed and some of
the camber changed on the bends. Colin Meredith is confident the track will
be better than ever so I guess we have to give it time.
For Oxford, Wiltshire, Nilsen and Johnston were superb, this will have to be
the case in these early weeks if the team is to win. Povahzny took a nasty
tumble and took no further part and I guess he needs laps in order to get
used to Oxford. He was already in pain though after taking the skin off his
rear end at Ipswich, the badly bruised hip didn't help. The Dryml's showed
glimpses, although never looking very quick, they were generally smooth and
rode good lines, they will improve ! Jonm Underwood did better than we can
expect although his 2nd place in Heat 2 was fully deserved, in fairness he
picked his other point due to Skonicki's EF but still needed to finish.
After blowing all 3 of his motors in the last week he deserved some luck.
Still good to see Oxford posting 5-1's from the big 2 as this was their
biggest problem last season.
For Wolves, I guess they will look for much more from the Americans and
probably got more from Rosco than expected. Pedersen was steady if not
impressive but in fairness it was his first visit to Oxford. Jensen was
excellent and Skornicki showed a lot of promise. Carter was disappointing on
a track he normally rides very well.
Good to meet fellow listees, Mark Rowe, Lefty Wright and Mark Lawton.
On the comments on admission costs, well its a case of being necessary.
Oxford is the most expensive track in the country but I can assure you there
is a lot going on off track to make it an entertainment package rather than
just a speedway meeting. Steve Purchase has lost £100,000 in 2 seasons
running the club and I don't think we can begrudge him trying to stem the
losses this year. I guess Oxford would not be running if the prices hadn't
gone up. I know which choice I would go for !!
The programme is excellent though.

Roman fell in Heat 1 of the match.
He made a good start from the outside gate and came round the outside of
Jesper Jensen on the first two corners. Down the back straight he was
third and Jensen seemed to shape to come inside Roman going into turn 3.
Roman appeared to realise this and went into ther bend fairly quickly
only to run into the back of Todd wiltshire who appeared to lock up very
slightly. Roman was catapulted towards the fence still on his bike and
crashed at hight speed.
After about 5 minutes treatment he got up and walked back to the pits.
He took no further part in the meeting but was quite happy in the bar
afterwards. He suffered bruising to his hip which were added to the
skin taken off his backside at Ipswich the previous evening. He was
certainly cheerful after the meeting and appeared to be OK
