Thanks to Mauro Cavazzana for anticipating the heat details of the meeting.
Here is a brief report.

Terenzano 2nd April 2000
Alessandro Dalla Valle opened his new season in the same fashion as he
closed the 1999 campaign: winning a round of the Italian individual
championship at Terenzano.
The rider from Sarego, the same village were GM engines are manufactured,
was already in top form both physically and mechanically and showed not a
single sign of the injury sustained in the horrific crash at Lonigo and that
kept him off the track for three months last season. With such a
determination he will be very hard to beat for the other Italian title
contenders.
Second in the winner-takes-all final was reigning champion Andrea Maida
while Armando Castagna, who having ridden on Saturday night at Stoke had to
rush from the Venice airport just in time for the start, finished third and
looked far from acclimatised on his new Jawas. He is going to completely
re-tune his set of engines apparently too powerful for the commonly slick
and hard tracks.
Local favourite Simone Terenzani finished fourth while former Monarch
Stefano Alfonso slipped during the first lap of the final and managed only
fifth place overall.
The championship format has been slightly altered this season with a group
of the top ten riders competing in a series of ten heats to qualify for a
5-man-winner takes-all-final.
The top 5 finisher of this meeting will be the same riders who will contest
the continental rounds at Terenzano and Krsko (Slovenia) on 30th April and
13th May respectively.

4 Giavera 28th May
5 Terenzano 11th June
6 Badia Calavena 3rd September
7 Lonigo 1st October
8 Badia Calavena 8th October

Speedway Bikes of Oz will once again be running the 'Oz Grand Prix 
Competition'. This comp. was a great success last year and hopefully 
will be even bigger in 2000. More details on the slightly revamped comp. 
will appear here next week.

Giavera is a track that was operating in the early eighties (I rode there
myself).
Even a Best Pairs Semifinal was held back in 1982 featuring
Penahll-Schwartz, Nielsen -Olsen, Sanders-Timan and so on.
It remained closed for about 12 years and last year it was re-opened for a
Italian championship round. Luckily the organisers are showing a willness to
keep it operating, even if with just one meeting this season.
I'll try to put some pictures of the stadium in my web site.
