2018 Central U.S. Speedway News
2018 Mid AmericaMay 29, 2018. As we mentioned in our last newsletter, when MAS was first built, our youth classes often had more entries than the adult classes. Over the past 10 seasons these kids moved up to the adult classes with many turning professional. Where we came up short was that we did not back fill the youth classes which really is the future of the sport. With that said, and in following our motto of doing things differently, we are going to have a three round series within our 2018 series that will feature the future of the sport. We are calling it Mid-America Features the Future, and any rider that wins two of the four main events will receive a $100 bonus on top of the prize money for that night. The next event is June 2nd, and is round one of our Featuring the Future Series where the winning bike owner of 80-200 will receive $250. We need to note that most sanctioning bodies state that amateurs cannot be paid. Therefore, we will pay the winning bike owner in order to not jeopardize a riders amateur status. Anybody that has been to the Amateur Grands will understand why we do this, and thank us later! The racing continues the following weekend on June 9th, with a regular points night. We then take nearly a month off, and then return on July 7th for Sr. 50+ Night where we pay a $100 bonus to the winner. July 21st is round two of our Featuring the Future Series with $250 going to the winning bike owner in the 65cc class. Also running this night is the a qualifier for the Bultaco Astro Cup at the AFT Springfield Short track. The Bultaco's will have their own class at this years AFT Springfield Short track which will be televised on Fans Choice and NBC Sports and the top three finishers in the Astro class will be invited to the Springfield Short track. The final round of the Featuring the Future Series is one week later on July 28th with a $100 bonus to the winning bike owner in 50cc Shaft, and $200 to the winning bike owner in 50cc Chain. The action continues on Friday, August 3rd with a round of the AMA Vintage Dirt Track National Series. The action continues the following night on August 4th with our Speedway Shootout Invitational, all regular classes and the second night of the AMA Vintage Dirt Track National Series. August 11th in our Open Quad Night which is another first for us where we are putting up $500 to win the Open Quad Class, and Joe Stahl from JLS Motorsports is putting up an additional $500 to the winner. The MAS crew then gets a much deserved week off after running six races in five weeks, but we return on August 25th for Vet 30+ Night where we will bonus the Vet 30+ winner $100. September starts off with Super Sr. 60+ night with a $100 bonus to the winner, and a $50 bonus to the oldest rider starting the 60+ Main event. September concludes with a $100/cylinder bonus going to the winner of Vintage Heavy on September 29. Next on the schedule is 250 Money Night on October 6th, with $500 going to the winner of the 250 Money class. October 20th is Vintage light night, and the 2018 season concludes on October 27th at our 10th annual Halloween race with $500 going to the winner of the Open bike class. The 2018 Awards Banquet will be two weeks later on November 10th at the Sunshine Bowling Center in Clermont, IN 2018 Mid America
Mid-America Speedway in Indianapolis Announces 2018 Schedule & to Kick-Off New Season with Spring-Opener on April 28 Press release for immediate release Indianapolis, IN. – April 23, 2018—Spring seems to be taking some time to officially get going in the Midwest, but a sure sign that it's finally coming around is Mid-America Speedway in Indy getting ready to host their spring-opener race this coming Saturday, April 28 and kicking off their 11th season at the Marion County Fairgrounds. Mid-America's official season-opening race is scheduled for June 2, and will see new and returning sponsors to the track's eleven years of operation on the southeast side of Indy. “This year we are planning on concentrating more on the youth classes,” stated promoter and track president Jim Terchila. “We feel that the younger riders are our future in racing, and as a result our official season-opener on June 2 will feature a $250-to-win purse for the 80-200 class. We will have our usual spring-opening race this coming Saturday (with a rain date set for May 19.) We got some work in on the track over the weekend and I think it's the best shape it's ever been in considering the amount of moisture we have received in the Indy area over the last couple of weeks and months. “Of course our big doubleheader racing weekend of the 2018 AMA Vintage Flat Track National Championship Series will return for it's 6th-straight year at Mid-America on August 3-4, along with the Speedway Shootout Invitational accompanying it on Saturday, August 4, which again will be sponsored by Harley-Davidson of Bloomington, Indiana. We are looking forward to another great season of racing at the Marion County Fairgrounds-hosted venue,” continued Terchila. “Some of our other new and returning track sponsors this season include Westfield Powersports, RoundTown Brewery, Horsepower Inc., Pink Pots, Dreyer South Powersports and former AMA Flat Track National #32 Jackie Mitchell's BuyRight Auto. “Also of note this year Colby Long and Reva Lauth of LBR Films will be shooting video at each event again this year so fans and competitors alike will be able to catch the action soon after each event. They really do great work so you'll want to check them out. We're looking forward to seeing everyone in our 11th season at the Marion County Fairgrounds,” said Terchila in closing. Track contact and info: Press release prepared by: Mike 'Stu' Stuhler 2018 Mid AmericaIt has been a couple months since we have sent out a newsletter, and since we pay a monthly fee to Constant Contact, it seemed like as good as time as any to send out an update of the upcoming season. In this issue we will talk about the 2018 schedule, discounted pit passes and preferred parking options, upcoming indoor ice races, and LBR Films. 2018 Season We have built a reputation for doing things different, and held several big races over the years focused on the larger displacement bikes. We are proud of the number of riders that started out on 65's and 80's and now hold professional licenses. One of the things that we failed to do, was to encourage the younger riders so that we could keep a steady pipeline of younger riders moving entering this great sport. We are not saying that the current group of youth riders are not fast, but we, along with the motorcycle industry as a whole, need to do more to attract younger riders into the sport, so that they are still riding and buying motorcycles forty, fifty, sixty years from now. With that said, and in following our motto of doing things differently, we are going to have a three round series within our 2018 series that will feature the future of the sport. We are calling it Mid-America Features the Future, and any rider that wins two of the four main events will receive a $100 bonus on top of the prize money for that nigh. Now on to the schedule.... The season will kick off on April 28th with our spring opener, the rain date for this event is May 19th. (Please note that we will run one or the other, but not both dates.) The next event is June 9th, and is round one of our Featuring the Future Series where the winning bike owner of 80-200 will receive $250. We need to note that most sanctioning bodies state that amateurs cannot be paid in cash. Therefore, we pay the winning bike owner in order to not jeopardize a riders amateur status. The racing continues the following weekend with our Marion CO. Fair Race. We then take nearly a month off to recover from the fair, and then return on July 14th for Sr. 50+ Night where we pay a $100 bonus to the winner. July 21st is round two of our Featuring the Future Series with $250 going to the winning bike owner in the 65cc Class. The MAS crew then get a much deserved week off after running six races in five weeks, but they return on August 25th for Vet 30+ Night where we will bonus the Vet 30+ winner $100. September starts off with Super Sr. 60+ night with a $100 bonus to the winner, and a $50 bonus to the oldest winner starting the 60+ Main event. September concludes with a $100/cylinder bonus going to the winner of Vintage Heavy. Next on the schedule is 250 Money Night on October 6th, with $500 going to the winner of the 250 Money class. October 20th is Vintage light night, and the 2018 season concludes on October 27th at our 10th annual Halloween race with $500 going to the winner of the Open bike class. The 2018 Awards Banquet will be two weeks later on November 10th at the Sunshine Bowling Center in Clermont, IN.
