Eddie Castro halted Scott Brant's Scratch Main winning streak at three, but Brant extended his overall main event victory streak to six by capturing the Handicap Main at Arrowhead Motor Speedway in San Bernardino Wednesday night.
John DeFries started on the 10 yard line had took the initial lead of the Handicap Main Event. DeFries was succesfully holding off "Cowboy" Bobby Krips when his bike began to sputter at the end of the second lap. Krips assumed the lead, but Brant was already in third place and closing fast. Krips did a commendable job of maintaining the lead until he took the white flag. Brant went to the outside as they entered turn one and blazed around Krips and into the lead. Brant took the checkered flag first to extend his main event winning streak at Arrowhead to six weeks in a row. Krips had to settle for second, Gary Hicks was third, Castro finished fourth, Shaun Harmatiuk was fifth, and DeFries ended up sixth.
Brant pulled up to the tapes in the Scratch Main with a chance to complete a double main event evening and extend his Scratch Main winning streak to four. When the tapes went up Castro and Hicks gated together, but Hicks lifted and that was enough to give Castro control of the lead. Castro put a little ground between himself and Hicks, who was now having to contend with Brant just to hold on to second. Castro cruised to the victory while Hicks held off Brant for second, while Krips finished fourth.
Tom "The Admiral" Rossano assumed the early lead in the Second Division Main, but it was short lived as Doug Benjamin and Winston Williams both made an attempt to pass Rossano entering turn three. Williams tried the outside and it was the wrong place to be because Rossano drifted wide and slowed Williams. Benjamin's inside line paid off and he took the lead at the end of lap one. Benjamin built up a large lead and won easily. Rossano was able to maintain second, Chad Newlee finished third, Williams was fourth, Eloy Medellin was fifth, and Steve Murray, who was unable to start after an injury suffered in his heat, was credited with sixth.
Japanese rider Hideaki Ota dominated the Second Division B Main Event and was victorious for the second week in a row. Rohn Zellner was second, Steve Nelson finished third, Rusty Hall was fourth, Geoff Herkner finished fifth, and Mitch Melott was sixth.
