Defending Industry Track Champion Charlie "The Edge" Venegas capped his perfect night with his first main event victory of 2007 at Industry Speedway.
Venegas started from the pole and launched off the line first and headed the field into turn one down the back straight. "Fast" Eddie Castro gave chase but also had to contend with track points leader Buck Blair challenging him for second. Venegas was hooked up on the inside groove and left his opponents in his wake. Castro rode the low line and succesfully protected his position from Blair. Venegas crossed the line first, Castro finished second, Blair was third, and Gary Hicks finished fourth.
Castro got things started by passing Ricky Wells and Shawn McConnell on the outside to win the first heat. Hicks defeated Jimmy Fishback for his first win of the evening. Venegas scored his first win by beating Blair. Bobby Krips ended the first round with a win over Robbie Sauer.
Venegas began the second round by using the outside to power away from Hicks.
The next heat had a nasty spill that left Fishback on the ground in turn three and Wells went hard into the turn four fence. Wells was up first and Fishback got up a couple minutes later with both riders being able to restart. Brad Sauer scored an impressive victory ahead of Krips on the restart.
Castro made it two in a row with a runaway win in race 21. Blair finished round two with a win over McConnell.
Fishback started the final round with a win that put him into the semis. Venegas beat Robbie Sauer for his third straight win. Schwartz held off McConnell to win event 29. Castro used the outside again to win the final heat race and match Venegas's perfect score. Schwartz won a three-rider runoff to determine the final two semi slots with Krips finishing second.
Hicks got the best start and won the first semi while Castro went from finished second to follow him into the main. Venegas was an easy winner in the second semi and just when it looked as if Fishback had the other transfer wrapped up, Blair blasted underneath him on the final lap to steal second. Schwartz led from start to finish to win the Consolation.
Kenny "Handful" Hansen used his experience to grab the lead and the win in the Second Division Main Event. John Marquez was second, Ian Foulds finished third, and Rudy Laurer was fourth.
Lance Remington led the Third Division Main Event on the first lap before Scott York took over the lead on the back straight. York was never challenged and scored his second straight main event victory. Remington held on for second, Greg Vandemore finished third, Danny Baker was fourth, Brad Russell finished fifth, and Ron Mongenel was sixth.
Gino Manzares won a spirited battle in the Youth First Division Main Event. Russell Green finished second and Joey Holt was third.
Brad Pappalardo started 50 yards back and patiently waited for the opportunity for the lead to present itself. At the white flag he raced underneath Braydan Galvin for the lead and led the final lap for an impressive victory.
Bryson Galvin held off every challenge that Elijah Harrison-Hicks could muster to win the Pee Wee Main Event. Emalee Pappalardo finished third, Alexis Harrison-Hicks was fourth, and Nathan Remington finished fifth.
Next week Industry Speedway is hosting Joker Machine Harley Night. Harley riders may participate in a parade lap and can also participate in the ever-popular Harley races. In addition, the rock band Drop8 will be performing.
