Joker Machine Harley Night
May 16, 2007 - Industry Speedway
By: Ryan Evans
Buck Blair won the main event at Industry for the fourth time in the young 2007 season in front
of the largest crowd of the season on Joker Machine Harley Night.
Blair got the best start from gate one while Charlie Venegas was second going into turn one.
Blair led down the back straight. Blair hugged the inside line and instead of settling into second Venegas went for broke with a desperate attempt for the
lead on the outside. He couldn't find sufficient traction and drifted far back into third behind Shaun Harmatiuk.
Blair pulled away for the victory, Harmatiuk finished second, Venegas was third, and Gary Hicks finished fourth.
The Olympique format began with Jimmy Fishback trapping from the outside and
defeating Bobby Schwartz. Harmatiuk defeated Hicks in the next event. Blair used the outside to
defeat Shawn McConnell by inches for his first win. Dale Facchini returned from England and was victorious in this first race. Venegas closed out the opening round with a win over Ricky Wells.
Bobby Krips began the second round by beating McConnell. Greg Ayers rode a solid four laps to beat Schwartz and Venegas. Fishback came from the back to beat Canadian visitor Aaron Hesmer for his second win. Eddie Castro beat Wells in race 23. Neil Facchini held off Blair to finish round two.
Wells began the final round by beating Ayers and Fishback. Brad Sauer held off McConnell for a victory.
Harmatiuk started in the front and beat Blair in race 29. Justin Boyle led Venegas for all four laps to win the
next race. Hicks ended the heat races with an easy win from the front. Hicks won a four-rider runoff to gain entry into the semis.
Blair led into turn one in the first semi with McConnell and Castro battling for second. Castro got into the back of McConnell and took him down in turn two.
McConnell looked for the red flag, but never got one. The contact slowed Castro and handed second to Harmatiuk. Venegas used the cushion to get the lead on lap one and
take the win followed by Hicks. Fishback led all four laps of the Consolation for the victory.
Eloy Medellin got the best start and ran away with his second Industry Second Division Main Event victory of the
season. Rick Valdez was second, Allen Doss finished
third, and Kenny Hansen was fourth.
Lance Remington led the Third Division Main Event for all four laps and was first to the checkered flag.
Jim Painter was second, Yoshi Sato finished third, Hugh Randolph was fourth, Hector Quevedo finished fifth, and Danny Baker was sixth.
Jason Ramirez scored an impressive victory in the Youth First Division Main Event. Gino Manzares finished second and Russell Green was third.
Braydan Galvin won the Youth Second Division Main Event. Brad Pappalardo overcame a 50 yard handicap to finish a close second and newcomer Richard Crocker was third.
Samuel Ramirez matched his brother's youth victory with a victory of his own in the Pee Wee Main Event.
Bryson Galvin was second, Elijah Harrison Hicks finished third, Emalee Pappalardo was fourth, and Nathan Remington finished fifth.
In addition to his two heat victories in First Division, Jimmy Fishback was an easy winner in the
popular Harley race in which people compete on street-legal Harleys on the speedway track.
