Fast Fridays regular season wound up tonight with the track championship. It spelt the last of the regular Friday night event for the year. The two remaining events are the final round of the AMA National on SATURDAY Sept. 20 and the USA vs the world on (back to) Friday, October 24.

Until last year the Track Championship was combined with the Youth National and always appeared rushed at the end. Not the case tonight, at a leisurely pace the 29 speedway races plus the peewee show fitted into a well managed program.

The racing was good, although most races were determined in the first corner, after which they became processions. I say most, the exceptions were the races which included Ricky Wells. Ricky demonstrated no less then three outside passes during the course of the evening, where other riders would have settled for their current position.

Outstanding all night was Charlie Venegas. He was unbeaten all evening. Bart Bast, who has had a great season, running away with the points championship, was second, losing 2 points, one to Venegas and the other to Bryan Yarrow. Third was Ricky Wells, one point ahead of Mike Faria, Kenny Ingalls and Yarrow.
