Season point leader Shawn “Mad Dog” McConnell finally broke through and won his first Scratch Main Event of the season at Industry Speedway.
Ricky Wells, Charlie Venegas, and Jimmy Fishback leaned on each other entering turn one, but McConnell trapped from the outside and led the field down the back straight. When the other three sorted themselves out it was Fishback who emerged second. McConnell made it a no-contest, though, and stretched his lead all the way to the finish line for a very popular victory. Wells was able to steal second from Fishback, who finished third. Mike Faria, in his first 2008 Industry Speedway appearance, finished fourth and Venegas was fifth.
The heats kicked off with Bobby Schwartz holding off Wells for the win. Venegas beat Faria f or his first victory. Fishback ended round one with a win over Jason Ramirez.
Round two started with Fishback coming from the back to get his second straight win. McConnell beat Tim Gomez in the next heat. Wells used the outside to pass Russell Green for win to finish the second round.
The final round began with Ramirez cruising to the victory. Faria kept Schwartz at bay to win event 28. Venegas ran away with the victory in the final heat.
Faria dominated the first semi and was followed into the main by McConnell. Ramirez led the second semi before Venegas swept around the boards for the lead and the win and Fishback pushed past Ramirez for second. Wells won the Last Chance to take the final spot in the main.
The Last of the Mohicans Last Man Out Challenge saw Faria, then Gomez get eliminated which left McConnell and Wells. Wells handily defeated McConnell in the final challenge.
Rudy Laurer led every lap to collect his fourth Industry Speedway Second Division Main Event victory of the season. Bryan Buffington finished second, Kim Stevens was third, Jonni Jade finished fourth, and Brad Moreau was credited with fifth.
Danny Baker led the Third Division Main Event through the first corner, but Bruce Marteney went by on the inside and never looked back en route to his third main event victory. Baker held on for second, Tim McGrath finished third, Paul Thornton was fourth, Tony DeAlmeida finished fifth, and Chris Thomas was sixth.
Austin Novratil led from start to finish for the victory in the Youth First Division Main Event. Brad Pappalardo finished second, Joey Holt was third, and Gino Manzares finished fourth.
Jacob Wondolowski beat Matthew Duffy to win the Pee Wee Main Event.
The next event at Industry Speedway will be the always entertaining Harley Night.
