Billy Janniro continued his winning streak at Fast Friday’s Motorcycle Speedway Friday night in Auburn with victories in both the Handicap Main Event and the Scratch Main Event. Janniro continues to be the man to beat and two weeks in a row remains unbeatable at Fast Friday’s Gold Country Fairgrounds. The AMA/USA 2008 National Champion first won the Handicap Main Event after a collision in the final lap between Kelly Kerrigan and Janniro that caused a crash in the handicap finale. After referee Dane Besneatte called for a staggered restart and lined up Janniro in the lead, he easily held onto the lead for the final lap and grabbed the checkered flag in the first of his two main event victories. Hedden finished second and Bast was third. “I’ve been trying to win both mains all year, this is my first double win of the season. It’s just so hard out here each week off the sixty yard line in the handicap program,” said Janniro. “For me the track has been better the last few weeks and has a little cushion outside so you can pass instead of just a one line deal.”
Janniro also found himself headed to the winner’s podium again as he proved to be the fasted man of the evening winning the Scratch Main Event. Out of lane three alongside Bart Bast in lane four, Tommy Hedden in lane two, and Charlie Venegas inside in lane one, “The Kid” worked the middle and outside of the track like only he can, powering through the thick part of the oval and cruised to the scratch main victory. Venegas ran in the inside lane doing his best to keep up with Janniro but had to settle for second place after four laps. Hedden was third and Bast finished fourth.
In the final Challenge Elimination qualifier Foresthill’s Kenny Ingalls grabbed the last spot and will round out the field in the Challenge Elimination Series Championship on September 4th.
Thomas Reich won the Division I Youth Main Event, Cody Ciciarelli was second, and Tanner Kane was third. Division II was won by Daniel Faria, Dan Turner was second and Richard Fehrman was third. Chris Wilkes won Division III just ahead of David Joiner in second and Billy Parino finished third.
Current points standings going into Friday’s racing has Bart Bast again leading all Division I riders with 1624, Billy Janniro with 1364, Tommy Hedden with 929, Kenny Ingalls has 859 and Charlie Venegas with 831.
