California State Champion Charlie “The Edge” Venegas took home his second main event victory of the year on Kids Night at Industry Speedway.
Venegas made the best start in the Scratch Main but was under pressure from Shawn “Mad Dog” McConnell. The multi-time U.S. Open Champion chased the leader the entire four laps, but it was to no avail. When the checkered flag came out, it was Venegas who passed it first, McConnell finished second, Jimmy Fishback was third, Mike Faria finished fourth, and Jason Ramirez was fifth.
Ramirez opened the heats with an impressive win over veterans McConnell and Faria. Venegas scored his first victory ahead of Tyson Burmeister in event two. Fishback defeated Bobby “Boogaloo” Schwartz to end round one.
Round two started with Schwartz getting the win ahead of Russell Green. Faria defeated Ramirez in the next event. McConnell beat Venegas to conclude the second round.
Venegas beat Fishback for his second win to begin the final round. Eddie Castro beat McConnell in event 16. Schwartz concluded the heats by defeating Faria for his second consecutive win. Burmeister beat Green in a runoff for the final spot in the semis.
In the first semi, McConnell and Venegas finished one-two and both transferred to the main event. Schwartz was leading the second semi until the final corner when Fishback nudged him off the inside line and forced both riders wide. Faria snuck by for the win and Fishback narrowly beat Schwartz for second. Ramirez won the Last Chance to book the final spot in the main event.
Joey Holt led all four laps to win the Second Division Main Event in dominant fashion. Eloy Medellin finished second, Frank Pecce was third, Steve Bowen finished fourth, and Ron Mongenel was fifth.
Bubba Vazzana never turned a wheel wrong and claimed the Third Division Main Event with a start-to-finish victory. DeWayne Stark finished second, Rod Requejo was third, Paul Thornton finished fourth, and Rick Huspek was credited with fifth.
Maxwell Ruml led the Youth Main Event for two laps before Nicky Reimer passed him for the lead and went on to the victory. Ruml held on for second, Samuel Ramirez was third, Bradley Wilson finished fourth, and Dillon Ruml was fifth.
Reimer was also victorious in the Pee Wee Main Event with Matthew Duffy finishing second, Bryan Pintar getting third, and Michael Wells finishing fourth.
Dave Alexander and Matt Davis led all four laps to win the Sidecar Main Event for the second week in a row. Gerard Jackson and Dave German were second and Tommy Thornton and Gene Stone finished third.
