Billy Janniro put on quite a show Friday night winning both the handicap main event and the scratch main event at Fast Friday’s Gold Country
Fairgrounds Motorcycle Speedway in Auburn. In only the second week of what looks to be another great season of speedway motorcycle action,
Janniro has set the bar high as the man to beat in Auburn. Coming off an opening night scratch main event win last week, Janniro picked up
another win in the scratch event this week and added the handicap event win, scoring his first night of double main event victories in only the
second meeting of the 2010 Speedway season.
Racing off the way back 50-yard line in the handicap main event, Janniro was able to do what he couldn’t get accomplished last week and was able
to get around Auburn’s Bart Bast and take the checkered flag in the six lap contest. Bast was second, Auburn’s Tommy Hedden was third and
2009 Fast Friday’s Track Champion Charlie Venegas was fourth. “The track was a bit slick last week, this week the track suited me better,
we got a little bit of dirt,” said Janniro. In the scratch main event Janniro was racing out lane four against Bast in lane three, Hedden
in lane two, and Venegas on the inside lane one. Even from lane four Janniro was able to get to the lead and hold on for four laps to take the
night’s top prize. Bast who is also having a great season start finished second, as he did in the night’s handicap main event, and
continues to ride rock solid. Venegas was third, and Hedden was fourth.
In the first week of the Elimination Challenge Series, Janniro’s winning streak
night would not see three first place finishes. Five riders race in a series of one-lap races as the last place rider is eliminated until two
remaining riders go two laps to victory. Hedden, Janniro, Venegas, Bryan Yarrow, and Scott Brant started, and the competition ended with Venegas
getting the better of Janniro in the final two-man, two-lap sprint. Venegas now moves to the final Elimination Challenge round on September 3rd.
Danny Turner took first in the Division 2 main event, David Fonts was second, and
Richard Fuhrman was third. The Division 3 main event was topped by Auburn’s Thomas Reich, Billy Parino was second and John Peters was
third. Meadow Vista’s Tanner Kane won the Youth Division.
