Billy Janniro added another notch to his speedway belt Friday night with a win in the scratch main event at Fast Friday's Motorcycle Speedway. The 2010 USA National Speedway Champion is now four for five wins at Auburn's Gold Country Fairgrounds in the scratch programs this season at Fast Friday's. This week Janniro worked his way through the scratch program and lined up for the final event of the night drawing the inside lane one against Bryce Starks in lane two, Bart Bast in lane 3, and Charlie Venegas in lane four. In the best position for a good gate Janniro beat the riders to the inside of turn one and this week it was Charlie Venegas giving chase followed by Starks and Bast. Venegas rode well but was no match for Janniro this week. Janniro gained about a two-yard lead and held it, as Venegas was unable to close the gap and had to settle for second place. Bast passed Starks and was third followed by Starks in fourth. Janniro is nearly unstoppable this season dropping only one scratch main event to Bast in week one. Out of any gate Janniro's excellent starts off the line give him the inside position in turn one a position he is able to hold to the finish. Though still early in the season, Janniro and Bast are locked in a very close USA Speedway points race with Janniro leading by just two points 582 to 580 after four weeks, then JT Mabry and Venegas trail 451 to 440 respectively. Bryce Starks, finding his groove at Fast Friday's after returning from Europe racing in the U-21 World Qualifier a couple of weeks ago, picked up an impressive win in the handicap main event. The 19 year-old rider from Auburn, riding off the 10-yard line was able to hold off Janniro, Bast, and Bob Hicks in the night's handicap finale. Janniro was second, Bast third and Hicks was fourth. Auburn's Rachalle Kerr, racing for the first time this season in Division II and riding on a borrowed bike, won her heat race, transferred to the main event and won the Division II main event by a convincing margin. "I plan on racing the rest of the season, and am in the process of rebuilding my bike," said Kerr. As Division II heats up this season, watch for Kerr to be in the mix each week. Richard Fehrman was second and Robert Mellor was third. Fehrman leads the points race in Div. II with 227 followed closely by Mike Achilles with 222 after four weeks. Division III had PJ Byrne on top for the third time this season. Moving up from the youth program this year Byrne has been impressive. Kevin Chapman was second and Bill McCloskey third. The Youth A main event was won by David Mersaroli and Colton Hicks Youth B main event. The extreme sidecars made the first of four crowd pleasing appearances at Fast Friday's and again put on an exciting racing program. Joe Jones and his band of team riding adrenaline-seeking speedsters took to the Fast Friday's track with eight teams and raced a seven team main event that was won by Jones and Jimmy Olsen.
