For the second time this season Billy Janniro took the checkered flag in both the Division I handicap and scratch main events at the Fast Friday's Motorcycle Speedway in Auburn. The 2010 USA National Speedway Champion was nearly perfect for the night and except for a second place finish in one handicap heat race early in the evening, Janniro won every race he was in. Janniro was unbeatable in the scratch program, winning all his races including the scratch main event and bringing his tally to five out six main event wins in the first six meeting this 2011 Fast Friday's speedway season. Janniro faced some of the best riders speedway has to offer in the Division I scratch main event Friday night and still came out on top. Making it to the scratch main and back from a racing injury was Auburn's Tommy Hedden. Racing for the first time this season and riding impressively, Hedden made both the Division I handicap and scratch main events. Also on the line racing for the fastest man of the evening was Bart Bast the only rider to beat Janniro in a scratch main event this season, veteran rider Charlie Venegas, and Hedden. Janniro drew the outside lane four, which for most riders would be an impossible draw, Hedden was in three, Venegas was in two and Bast drew the inside lane one. Unable to beat Bast to the inside on turn one and getting a good gate out of four, Janniro chose a higher line, deeper in the track, using the power of his bike and skillful riding in the deeper dirt to take the lead. Janniro held on to the lead, for the duration of the race increasing his distance over Bast each lap, winning by a fairly wide margin. "All Bart (Bast) has to do to beat me is to beat me out of the gate," said Janniro. "He's just as fast if not faster than me at the end of the night on the track," he said. "It's all if I have a bad gate and he has a good gate, that's it," Janniro said. Bast finished second, Venegas was third, and Hedden was fourth. Janniro also won the Division I handicap main event riding off the 50 yard line, beating Bast who was second, Thomas Riech who was third, and Alex Marcucci who finished fourth. In what is shaping up to be a very competition action packed division, local speedster PJ Bryne picked up an impressive win in Division II. Bryne moving up to Division II for the first night beat Tyler Warren who was second, and Ryan Bast who was third, in the main event. Kevin Chapman won the Division III main event over Chris Casey in second and Bill McCloskey in third. Brothers David Mersaroli and Louie Mersaroli both won their respective Youth divisions, David Mersaroli winning the Youth A and Louie Mersaroli winning the Youth B. This is their first season at Fast Friday's for the area siblings. Jim Lewis won the interesting Run What U Brung Division.
