Fan favorite "Fast Eddie" Castro added yet another Victorville Trophy to his collection by winning the King of the Desert on September 1st, 2012.
It was far from an easy victory however - Castro was only 4th of points after the heats and so had to come via the Last Chance race, and did not have it easy in that event with a very impressive and fast John Marquez on his tail.
The heats featured 15 year old Max Ruml coming of age - winning his first three to be the only undefeated rider after three rounds, including twice scalping Castro. It was only in round 4 that his maximum was broken - Buck Blair and Marquez heading him home.
After the heats Blair was on 11, Ruml 10, Fox impressive on 9, Castro 8, Marquez 6 with Joey St.Louis and Ron Davis on 2 each.
The Main event saw Blair from the outside miss the gate completely. Ruml was fastest away, but Castro out of turn 2 made use of the outside line, the 'Castro Corridor' to take a lead that was never headed. Fox got by Ruml for a well deserved 2nd place. Ruml was 3rd, Blair 4th.
Broc Nicol and Dillon Ruml split the 250cc heats before the younger Ruml won the Main. Sebastian Palmese won all three 200cc heats though Michael Wells was gaining each lap.
Newcomer Wyatt Cameron won all of the Pee Wee races with the regulars of Sara Cords and Dakota Shockley next. Sara's dad Tom Cords was victorious in the mini bike class.
Next race at Victorville is the Speedway Billy Memorial on 29th September.
