March 02, 2013

The Young-Guns came out in force with cannons fully loaded, blasting their way to impressive victories. at Pirate Speedway's Winter Series #3. Checking out the results sheet as the day of racing progressed, the domination of Rising Stars #308 Max Ruml and #321 Russell Greene became more and more apparent. Periodically interrupted by the brilliance of some of the sports other top young star's, sprinkled with some wily seasoned veterans.

The Scratch Main Event Final kept everyone on the edge of their seat, as #308 Max Ruml gated and lead from the start. Jockeying for the 2nd and 3rd position were #46 Aaron Fox and #321 Russell Green. Moving up to 2nd on lap 2 was Fox, dropping to 3rd was Green, having been running in 4th was #126 Rocco Scopellite, now taking some action moving up to 3rd on lap 3. The final lap saw Ruml, who had lead all laps take the win, Scopellite move up and take 2nd, Russell Green drop to 3rd, Aaron Fox slowing to take 4th, having a mechanical problem. Max Ruml having made the move up to the "Big Bike-500cc" recently, has made a definite impression on the D-1 class.

The Handicap Main Event Final saw an electrifying finish at the checkered flag. The Handicap line-up saw Green and Ruml start from the 50-yard line, Scopellite from the 40, and T. McConnell from the 20, non starters were: Fox and Jason Ramirez. Having battled back and forth, each lap counting down to the finish. Greene, Ruml, vying for the 1-2 position, #114 Troy McConnell, Scopellite a close 3rd and 4th, all contending for the win, in one of the closest races staged of the day. The end came too soon for the fan's, but not soon enough for the winner ! As the great racing concluded, with nothing less than a "Photo-Finish". After some tense moments, the speakers rang-out, Green Wins ! Green Wins ! Final order, Russell Green with the win, Max Ruml in 2nd, Troy McConnell 3rd, Rocco Scopellite gamely finishing 4th. Green with a last lap surge at the end, prevented Ruml, from doubling-up with the Scratch Win, only to be denied the Handicap Win, by Green.
