Janniro Goes Back-to-Back at Industry Racing with Thrilling Victory
CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif. (June 6, 2014) – Industry Racing hosted its second night of action during the 2014 season on Wednesday, June 4. As it was for opening night the week prior, the focus of the evening was the impending showdown between inner-state rivals Billy Janniro and Billy Hamill. Janniro got the upper hand in the first shootout and was able to do so again following a thrilling race between he, Hamill, and veteran Charlie Venegas. Another loaded evening of racing provided stellar competition, with eight riders walking away victorious in their respective divisions. As the First Division scaled down the field to its final four riders that would compete for the win, it was once again the matchup everyone was hoping for with Janniro and Hamill leading the way. Venegas rebounded from a tough opening night to make his first Scratch Main Event of the season, while Buck Blair rounded out the final group. As the tape rose, Janniro took advantage of his prime starting position to secure the inside line, leaving Hamill to fend for himself on the outside. Despite having to go the longer way around, Hamill was able to stay alongside Janniro and held his own throughout the four-lap race and the pair swapped spots on multiple occasions. Ultimately, Janniro’s inside placement gave him the edge and on the final lap Venegas also found a way to slip by Hamill, who simply pushed his bike to the limit in hopes of winning. The veteran duo of Joe Jones and Johnny Glover once again emerged victorious in the Sidecar Division, taking advantage of the all important track position off the start to hold off their competitors. With back-to-back wins, Jones and Glover are off to a hot start in 2014. The competition in the Junior 250 Division was enough to rival their First Division counterparts. With opening night winner Gage Geist leading the way, it became a thrilling showdown amongst the talented trio of Geist, Kurtis Hamill, and Dillon Ruml. All four laps of the Main Event kept the crowd on the edge of their seat with Ruml getting the best of his rivals for a well-earned victory. The Second Division was the sight of another repeat performance. After a big win on opening night, Dalton Leedy moved into the lead early in the Main Event and maintained control of the race to the checkered flag to also move to 2-0 for the 2014 season. The Mini 150 First Division was a battle amongst three riders following a restart in the Main Event. Slater Lightcap took advantage of it to take the lead and carry it through to the finish to claim his first win of the 2014 season. The Third Division Main Event was guaranteed to have a new winner as opening night winner Chris Wiggins was not in the final four. After an intense four laps of action, Steve Brown broke through for his first win of the season. For the second straight week, Travis Horn dominated the Pee Wee Division. Horn was a picture of consistency all evening and is the fourth competitor at Industry Racing so far this season to go undefeated in Main Events. The Mini 150 Second Division became a three-rider showdown between Keelan Venegas, son of Charlie Venegas, Dakota Shockley, and Luke Whitcomb. In the end, Venegas edged out his fellow competitors to take the win and cap off a great night of racing for the Venegas family. Although he missed out making the Scratch Main Event, Tyson Burmeister made the most of his opportunity to win the Scratch Consolation. The talented young rider outlasted Tyson Talkington, Jason Ramirez, and Travis Henderson. The 2014 Industry Racing season continues next Wednesday, June 11, for what is sure to be another great night at Southern California’s only full AMA-sanctioned speedway facility.
