“Mad” Max Ruml won his fourth Industry Racing Scratch Main Event of the season and ran his individual race winning streak to 16 on Haddick’s Towing Classic Car Night.

Max Ruml and nine-time National Champion Billy “The Kid” Janniro both entered the Scratch Main Event with perfect scores. Max Ruml won the draw for first choice between them and chose gate two. Janniro looked over gates one and four before settling on gate four. Aaron Fox then picked one which left gate three for Dillon Ruml.

Max Ruml led the field into turn one but went to the outside and the field tightened up as they exited turn two. All four racers were in tight formation with Fox holding a slight edge over the rest. Max Ruml went deep into the corner and the ample dirt gave him enough traction to sweep around the boards and into the lead. Max Ruml maintained his wide line while Fox held second entering turn one. Janniro turned hard underneath both and took a brief lead on the back straight and into turn three. Max Ruml used the dirt again to edge ahead at the end of the second lap. They used the same lines again at the start of lap three and Janniro again gained a slight advantage on the back straight. Max Ruml stayed wide in turn three and this time Janniro drifted off the inside line a bit and Max Ruml’s advantage grew as they saw the white flag. Janniro took one last shot along the pole and gained ground but Max Ruml made the cushion work yet again and was first to the finish line. Janniro had to settle for second, Fox finished third, and Dillon Ruml was fourth.

Dillon Ruml kicked off the evening by passing Tim Gomez for the win. Janniro, making his first appearance at Industry Racing since the Connor Penhall Memorial Cup six weeks ago, opened his account with a win ahead of Shawn “Mad Dog” McConnell. Bakersfield’s Brad Sauer impressively held off a persistent Fox to score a hard-earned victory. Max Ruml ended the first round by defeating Russell Green.

Max Ruml beat McConnell to start the second round with his second win. Sebastian Palmese defeated Sauer to win event 12. Janniro used the outside to make a second-lap pass on Dillon Ruml and win his second race. Fox ended round two by defeating Green.

Fox started round three with his second win in a row, this time ahead of Palmese. Max Ruml beat Dillon Ruml to remain undefeated. Green was awarded the victory and McConnell second in the penultimate heat. Janniro victimized Gomez with yet another outside pass to end the heats with a perfect score as well.

McConnell and Dillon Ruml led the first semi into turn one while Janniro was left behind. They were side-by-side on the back straight before Dillon Ruml’s outside line put him in front. Janniro rounded McConnell for second on the next lap and set after the leader. His determination paid off when he powered around the outside for the lead, his fourth straight win, and a transfer to the main. Dillon Ruml finished second to also transfer to the main. The second semi had far less fireworks as Max Ruml and Fox were one-two the entire way and moved on to the main.

Green led the Scratch Consolation the entire way. McConnell was second and Sauer finished third.

The Second Division Main Event began with Rudy Laurer, Dylan Black, and Kevin Fiore entering turn one together while Eloy Medellin was seemingly caught napping and was far behind. Laurer and Black went wide into turn two and Fiore seemed to stall which allowed Medellin to take third. Laurer and Black were wheel-to-wheel on the front straight but Black slid off entering turn one the second time and Laurer drifted up to the fence in turn two. Medellin, left for dead at the start, now found himself charging under Laurer for the lead. Medellin didn’t turn a wheel wrong from there and led to the finish. Laurer finished second, Fiore was third, and Black was credited with fourth.

Andrew Russell put together four smooth laps and won the Junior 250 Main Event. Justin Almon finished second, “Lightning” Luke Whitcomb was third, and New York’s Jonny Oakden finished fourth.

Owen Williams and Levi Leutz left the starting line together but Williams went down in turn two. The race continued with Leutz in the lead. Leutz never looked back from there and cruised to the Mini 150 Main Event victory in fruitful warm up for the Nationals just two nights later. Nick Dunn finished second, Ryder Schultz was third, Max Anderson finished fourth, and Williams was fifth.

Rosie Russell held off the constant pressure from Jenson Horn to match her brother’s victory with a win of her won in the Pee Wee Main Event. Hudson Jones finished third.

The field included three racers from New York. The aforementioned Jonny Oakden in the Junior 250 class as well as Dave Oakden and Spencer Portararo in First Division. They competed at Fast Fridays two nights later and plan on racing at Industry next Wednesday.

The next event at Industry Racing is Laidlaw’s Harley Davidson Night and will include the ever-popular Harley races. These will include hooligans as well as street-legal machines competing on the dirt oval.
