ACES AND HEATHENS TAKE FIRST ROUND WINS WHILST BROC NICOL LEADS THE WAY ON 17 POINTS!
Round 1 of the 2019 Team League was held at Perris Raceway, CA on February 16th 2019 with the Aces and Heathens winning their matches. It was the third attempt to stage the race after two rain outs, a third rain out was almost expected after heavy downpours two days ahead but miracle track work provided a superb race surface that needed little attention all race long.
The first match saw the Vikings race the Heathens. Despite looking weaker on paper, the Vikings took an early lead and actually kept matters close until the last three heats where they ran out of gas. Gino Manzares led the way for the Vikings with 12 points with lower end support from Michael Wells and Mike Miller keeping them in contention. In the end they could not hold back the power top three of Max Ruml (11), Chris Kerr (10+1) and Colton Hicks (8+1) that saw the Heathens through.

Match two proved to be a one sided affair with the Aces strolling to victory over the defending Champion Eagles. Russell Green and Tommy Hedden both were on superb form, amassing 13 points each and good solid support from Bob Hicks, Charles Pearson and Joey Donaldson proved crucial. For the Eagles Broc Nicol carried the weight of the team with a superb 17 points. Dillon Ruml had a rare off night with just 8 points on the night and the lower order struggled to impinge.

LEAGUE 2
The new League 2 competition proved to be competitive, featuring Support, 250 and 150 riders. Richard Perkins and Lawrence McNutt were unbeaten in the Support Class, a feat matched by Slater Lightcap and Wilbur Hancock on the 250s. The 150 class had Jose Navarrete winning the first heat with Owen Williams taking the next two.
