Ahead of the main 7pm show was a super 28 race program that began at 4pm. Several classes ran, here is the write up. Perhaps the most eagerly awaited class was the ‘Invitational’ for Division 1 and 2 riders not in the American Final starting 16. Up for grabs were two reserve spots on the main show. Riders had two heats each, qualifying them for the A or B Main. Kayle LeoGrande top scored with two heat wins. Mark Fillebrown and Sara Cords also took a heat win each. 500cc debutant Timmy Dion impressed by winning the B Main. It was LeoGrande who went perfect by taking the A Main, Sara Cords in second qualified as second reserve. The Support Class featured Division 2 and 3 riders. Timmy Dion, doubling up, took two heat wins with Tom Bryant and Dave Perry taking one each. Rees Todd was the B Main victor with Dion completing a three ride maximum by taking the A Main. Six riders entered the growing and popular upright class. Colorado visitor Mike Jaudon took the clean sweep, closest competition was from Central California’s Dan Waller. Youth action saw Owen Williams taking two heats with Jose Navarette taking the other. Williams completed a maximum with a Main win. Four of the 150s went back to their beginnings by running 50cc Pee Wees. Heats went to Williams and Levi Leutz with Leutz being the victor in the Main event. Bob Tocco took a three-ride maximum in the Mini Bikes whilst Justin Almon went 3-0 in match races against Division Two riders.
