Janniro wins Scratch Main Event

It has taken into the fifth week of the 2021 Fast Fridays Motorcycle Speedway season for ten-time AMA National Speedway Champion Billy to get into the win column. Finding the Gold Country Fairgrounds Fast Fridays track in Auburn Ca to his liking this week, Janniro showed that he is getting back into the groove and on the eve of his 41st birthday came out of hot lane one keeping Bart Bast at bay to cross the finish line first. “Finally a week when the track wasn’t slick,” Janniro said. “It was a good night; I hope we get a couple more of these.” Luck might be in the draw because every scratch main event winner so far this season has drawn lane one, got in the lead in turn one and held on to the lead for the win. Bast was second, Mersaroli third and Chance Grove who was having a great night made the main but slid in lap three and did not finish.
Kyle Cunningham has found his groove in the handicap program picking up his third of five handicap main event wins so far this season. Gaining handicap yardage with each win, Cunningham off the 30 yard line Friday night was second in his heat race, second in his semi-final and put it together for the win in the main. Nobody gave the main to Cunningham though as Chance Grove and Timmy Dion both put in a good race challenging Cunningham at every turn. Both Grove and Dion fell in the charge and Cunningham survived for the win. Louie Mersaroli was second and Blake Borello was third.
Greg Moore took the Division II main event ahead of Rees Todd. Moore and Todd are the only riders so far to win the Division II main event this season. Moore won the opening night, Todd the next three and Moore Friday night. Moore survived two crashes in the win. First Dylan Wagner went down then on the restart four riders did a dirt inspection between turns three and four. Moore was followed by Todd in second and John Peters was third.
After a second place finish at the last meeting on June 18, Tim Rott picked up his first main event win in Division III. Former flat tracker, Rott brings his skills to the speedway track now and held on for the win over Dean Newnham who was second and Marc Denniston who was third.
The Youth 250 division is a back and forth challenge for Charlie Trana and Alex Martin who together account for all the main event wins in the Youth 250 division this season. Friday night Trana had Martin’s number and won all three races including the main. Martin could just not catch Trana Friday night and took second in all the Youth 250 races. Third was Levi Leutz. Nick Hohlbein won the Youth 150 main event. Darren Armbruster drove hard all night but Hohlbein won the main event after Armbruster fell in the third lap. Jameson Hutchinson was second and William Hennefer was third.
The Extreme Sidecars returned to Fast Friday’s for their second appearance of the season and were greeted to another full house of fans. Always a crowd favorite the sidecars will be in Auburn at Fast Fridays four times this year including the AMA Extreme Sidecar National Championship. Unfortunately, out of the gate on the first race the sidecar team of Joe Jones and Josh Flammia and Lawrence McNutt and Dana Miller experienced a nasty crash that injured Flammia and roughed up Jones, McNutt and Miller. Both teams were knocked out for the evening. Flammia was transported to the hospital.
The sidecar racing program continued with the other three teams putting on a great crowd pleasing racing show. The sidecar team of Smylie Kinne and Joshua Bustos won the main event followed by the team of Robert Curry and Johnny Glover in second and team of Kevin Kale and Tracy Gallagher in third.
