If the stands are filled in the McCann Stadium on warm Friday night at the Gold Country Fairgrounds in Auburn Ca. that can only mean one thing-the Extreme Sidecars are back in town at the Fast Fridays Motorcycle Speedway. That is exactly what happened Friday night when eight sidecar team showed up for the second time this season ready to rumble and were warmly welcomed by Auburn fans. These 1000cc three wheeled trikes running without brakes just thrill the Fast Friday's faithful at each appearance.

The teams ran six heats scoring points for finishing position in each heat. The top three scorers were then seeded into the final main event with the one empty spot earned in the last chance qualifier. The team of Joe Jones and Tom Summers had a perfect score in their three heats with nine points winning a main event spot. The Robert and Laurie Curry team were second in heat points with seven points earning a main event spot, and the third spot went to Smylie Kinne and Chuck Heider who finished the heats with six points. The team of Ace Kale and Johnny Glover won their way in the hard way winning the last chance qualifier to take the fourth spot in the sidecar main event.

The team of Jones and Summers using their many years of skillful riding pulled off the main event win. The team of Kinne and Heider was second taking advantage of a spin out into the infield by the Curry team to take second. Ace Kale and Johnny Glover were third and the Curry team did not finish.

Billy Janniro would not be denied again this week and picked up his fourth scratch main event win of the 2022 Fast Fridays season and third scratch main event win in a row. Out of gate three, even though it does not make much difference in which gate he starts, Janniro built a comfortable lead to the finish line. Trailing by 10-20 yards for the four laps Louie Mersaroli charged but could not get around Janniro taking second place. Right behind him Bart Bast followed closely for third place and Blake Borello finished fourth.

Borello fared better in the handicap main event with his first handicap win of the season. Borello had finished second the last two weeks in the handicap main event and managed to hang onto the win over Bart Bast who was second and Rheten Todd who finished third. Borello rides off the 30-yard line now but will likely be moved back 10 yards to the 40-yard line with the win for next week.

John Peters who has been a top three finisher each week except week one in Division II, pulled off his third Division II main event win Friday night. Peters will likely also be moved back 10 yards to the 30 yard line for his starts next week. Lawrence McNutt finished second and Dean Newnham was third. Mike Newnham pulled off his first main event win of the 2022 season in Division III Newnham off the zero line outpaced Sam Richardson who finished second and Everett Holmes who was third.

Darren Armbruster and Chase Kangas go at pretty hard each week with one or the other winning the Youth 250 main event. This week it was Armbruster who had the moxy to pull off the win. With a little bump to Kangas that was ruled legal Armbruster got ahead of Kangas for the win. Kangas was second and Catherine Moore was third. Kangas won their first heat, Armbruster the second heat and then the main event.

The Youth 150 division had quite a few riders this week and their program was divided into a Youth A and a Youth B group. The groups had two heats each then the main event. In only his second time racing at Fast Friday's Matthew Wright pulled off a stunning night capped with a win in the Youth 150A main event. Leeann Emerson was second and Jayce Preuss was third. In the Youth 150 B division Wesley Rearick continued his winning ways taking the main event. It was Rearick's third Youth 150 main event win of the season. Jameson Hutchinson was second and Caden Cavrikas was third.

For those die hard fans interested in Fast Friday's track points after six weeks and not counting Friday nights racing, Louie Mersaroli leads Division I with 655 points, John Peters heads up Division II with 301 points and Tim Rott leads Division III with 324 points.

Next Friday July 8, the SOS Team Challenge continues with round four, as Team SOS tries to gain ground on Team AR-17 and close the 27-15 score gap.
