RUML READIES FOR EUROPE WITH VENTURA DOMINATION
Current FIM North American Champion and AMA National Champion Max Ruml was perfect in all 4 of races at the big 1/5 mile iconic Ventura Raceway on May 7th. The race was part of the 7th Annual AJ Herrera Memorial race, in honor of a local young Flat Track Star who tragically passed away several years ago.
Ruml is off to Europe next month for a short trip to take in a Grand Prix Qualifier at Zarnovica, Slovakia on June 11th, his reward for defending his North American Championship last December. The Ventura track is the biggest in the USA and it’s only Speedway event (combined with a huge Flat Track turn out) this year was the perfect warm up.
Ruml was mostly untroubled in all four races he took part in. Veteran Eddie Castro out trapped him heat 1 but Ruml was soon by and away. Castro was runner up to Ruml in all events.
Local riders Mike Lane (Support Class) and Dan Waller (Vintage) showed their continued liking for Ventura with clean sweeps in their respective divisions. Robert Curry and Laurie Curry won sidecar Heat 1 and Main event, with Wade Boyd and Eric Lindauer taking the other heat.
Though only a small part of this huge event, the speedway races were very well received by the fans on hand. The track, located yards away from the beach and the Pacific Ocean, will run regular sprint car races throughout the year as happened last season, the bike event was on one time matter for this year.
