I wanted to thank everyone who did come out in very shaky weather last night to support us at Action Park East and pay tribute to Mike Murphy! It was a ton of work and expense to get things re-opened and we really appreciate those that did back us! I am sure people will say the track was still a handful but in all fairness, the work we did and material we brought in was a big improvement and you could see 80 percent of it held together much better and was much smoother.
The monsoon rain Friday night and rain again yesterday before the races just made it too soft in the areas that did hole up. There was just nothing more we could do to those spots. Thanks to Dr. Phil Scavone for all his hard work and for making it very ridable still last night. There is no doubt on a night with good weather we would have had a hard smooth track. Champion Speedway would have been exactly the same conditions with the rain we had. It is a shame many people figured we would have been rained out.
Congrats to all the riders who ended up winning Mains last night, especially Lilly Cornell who won the handicap Jr Main, and Dalton Oakden who won the D-1 Handicap Main, both firsts for them I believe! Most entertaining rider award this week actually goes to a mechanic, Diesel Wagner, who put on a hell of a show after the races! See everyone next Saturday night for the Larry and Kathy McBride event at Champion Speedway!
