In week seven at the Fast Friday's Motorcycle Speedway in Auburn Ca. Billy Janniro picked up his fourth scratch main event win of the season leading all riders in scratch main event wins so far this season. Janniro did not lose a race in the scratch program picking up wins in his heat, semi-final and then the main event, on his way to being named “The fastest man of the night.”
Janniro drew the inside lane again this week and edged inside almost on the track tube launching a good gate. Out of turn one Janniro was tight with Blake Borello and Broc Nicol. Janniro worked the inside lane like the pro he is and pulled ahead gaining yardage over Borello with each lap. Borello rode a good race just did not have the chance to catch Janniro. Nicol followed close but found himself in a similar position as Borello. Janniro took the checkered flag again, Borello was second and Broc Nicol was third followed by Charlie Trana.
Greg Moore got up on the winner’s podium for the first time this season with a first-place finish in the handicap main event. Moore who starts on the zero line was ahead of the pack from the start but followed by Bart Bast who starts on the 20-yard line. Bast dogged Moore the whole race just waiting for a window to jump through. But Moore showing great skills worked hard at keeping the veteran Bast in line and crossed the finish line first. Bast was second, Timmy Dion off the 30-yard line was third. Moore was second in his heat race and third in his semi-final but got it together for a win in the handicap main event. Moore will be welcomed to the 10-yard line next week with the win.
Tisiah Prout again won the support main event, his second for the season. New to speedway racing this season Prout is catching on quickly. The race was restarted because Antonio Coffman went down in a mishap in turn two on the first lap. Referee Steve Lucero brought them all back to the start line. Prout still learning the ins and outs of speedway racing poured on the speed for his win. Catherine Moore was second, Brian Leventon was third and Coffman who recovered from his crash finished fourth.
Riley Rearick continues to dominate the Youth 150 division with another win in the main event. Young Rearick is still unbeaten at Fast Friday's this season so far and won his seventh Youth 150 main event. Even starting on the 120-yard line halfway around the track, Rearick is unstoppable working around lower yardage riders using three of the four laps in the race to take the lead and the win. Rearick is still unbeaten in any race at Fast Friday's this season.
Darren Armbruster won the Youth 250 main event in a thrilling manner by passing Jameson Hutchinson just before the tapes for the win. Armbruster starts on the 60-yard line up against Jameson Hutchinson and Wesley Rearick who start on the zero line. It was a close race with Hutchinson leading for the entire race and it looked like he had the race in the bag until Armbruster made his move just before the finish line for the win. It was Armbruster's fifth Youth 250 main event win of the season. Hutchinson was second and Wesley Rearick was third.
In the third round of the Team Challenge Series the Law Tigers and Team IFC ended up tied. The team challenge is an ongoing season long grudge match. Different from the usual racing team racing works with riders working as a team to score points working together to help each other. Points accumulate during the six meetings during the season and the team with the most points after the championship wins bragging rights until next season.
Coming into round three Team IFC had 17 points one point down from the Team Law Tigers who had 18 points. Team IFC was able close the gap scoring six points on good rides from Broc Nicol and Timmy Dion. Not to be outdone the Law Tigers scored five points of their own with great rides from Billy Janniro and Wilbur Hancock knotting the score at 23-23 after the three rounds. Team IFC ended up scoring six points and Team Law Tigers scored five points in round three. The season long series concludes with the championship round on August 9.
Great racing continues next week at Fast Friday's with an interesting race considered the speedway racing iron man event of the year. The race a real test of endurance when the riders race in a 25-lap main event with handicap yardage doubled. Something not to be missed as riders are concerned with not only fatigue but running out of fuel.
