1996 Costa Mesa Speedway
August 2, 1996 Costa Mesa Speedway
From: Tom Simrak
Speedway returns after a two week layoff. The fair has left and
now the real fun begins. I stopped by the track on Tuesday just
to see how it looked. It was a mess. During the fair, OUR speedway
track is converted to a bull ring, This is where they have a rodeo
for almost two weeks. "Rad" Brad Oxley had 5 days to go from stable to
race track. Needless to say, He did a great job. The track is
always fast after the fair. Tonight we were treated to "The
wheelie king" Doug Domokos. As per normal, the fans loved it.

It was another great night of racing. Saturday is Bakersfield.
I hope to make it. After tonights racing I talked to "Mr Excitement" John Aden,
He told me he will be going to England in September. He plans on
going with Greg Hancock when Greg returns from running our nationals.
John will stay with Greg for awhile then stay with Chris Manchester.
After seeing John on our long tracks( Bakersfield, Paris and Ascot)
he has shown himself to be the cream of the crop on long tracks. It
will be interesting to see how he does with some of the world class
riders over there. Some say, world champ by the year 2000. I'm one
of them. stay tuned...
