An interesting night. Sidecars only visit Northern California about
once a year so it was good to seem them again. The County Fair was
also going on so after the races were over most spectators went out
to the fair and joined in with the other fair goers. The hypnotist
was most interesting...
Overall a good night of racing. The only drawback was a lack of
sidecars that made for a shorter program. With 17 hacks on the
program it promised to be a great night, then when we noticed that
only 11 hacks made it to Auburn there was somewhat of a letdown. The
riders that made it did put on a great show and some of the heats
were very exciting. The team of Peter Lewis and Jamie Macy were the
ones who had the track dialed in, putting on a brilliant display
every heat they were in, clearly they were the champions.
I almost did not attend due to the early hour the racing was
scheduled to start, however I am glad that I made the trip, the power
of the sidecars made it worthwhile. I just wonder how many of the
monkey's legs get demolished during the year because they really run
in close going into the turns and it sure appeared to be some legs
were hanging out very close to the front tire of the hack behind.
