Western Colorado SpeedwayMOTORCYCLE RACING RETURNS TO GRAND JUNCTION COLORADO Grand Junction Colorado: The Grand Junction area will soon be the home of a new facility developed for both speedway and flat track motorcycle racing. The track, Western Colorado Speedway, will be partnering with Western Colorado Dragway. The location of the track will be on the same property as the Dragway just south of the drag strip. The site already has a racing heritage as it was the location of the Whitewater Hill Flat Track in the ’70s. The next few months will include site planning and the beginning of construction including building the track, putting up a crash wall, perimeter fencing, lighting, a PA system, bleachers, and other facilities for both fans and racers. The track will be a decomposed granite surface with the final size to be determined. It will range from an eighth-mile to a quarter-mile depending on final site plans. The goal is to allow for the largest track possible for good competition while keeping it small enough for close racing for the benefit of racing fans. A practice track will be ready and complete by the end of March/beginning of April. The main focus will be on the completion of the facility for a full race schedule in 2022. Also, hopes are to host one or two special events in 2021. You can follow us on Instagram and Facebook @westerncoloradospeedway for updates along the way, and we will also have our website up and running soon. In addition to Speedway and the flat track we also are evaluating the possibility of hosting other forms of racing ranging from dirt go-karts, speedway sidecars, TT racing, ATV flat track, Hooligans, Speedway Sprints, and more. The track will be operated as a 501(c)4 non-profit organization so all funds will either be used to pay the year-to-year expenses or improve the facility. We are actively looking for people and companies that want to sponsor the race track and start a partnership to help grow this sport in the Grand Junction area. Please reach out to us at westerncoloradospeedway@gmail.com. We would like to thank our current partners; Western Colorado Dragway, Perri’s Powersports, Grand Junction Harley, Newbolds Motorbike Shop, Dirtbag Brands, Pistonbones Printing Co, and Images Screenprinting. Racing is a tight-knit community! If any racers want to jump on board early we will be pre-selling 2021 – 2022 track licenses to start building our racing family! Purchasing a track license early helps with start-up costs as every penny helps. Ryan Brant
