In Heat six, Biff Waczynski hit the wall hard in turn three avoiding a tangle between Gary and Chris Hesmer, and did not get up for several minutes. He had a temporary loss of memory and swelling on his leg that put him out for the rest of the night.
In Heat two, Gary Hesmer was hit by his cousin Chris just before the finish line and both went down. Chris was the first to pick up his bike and push across the finish line.
My racing: I loaned my bike to Pat Goldsmith, a local rider from Nashville, who has done ice racing before, and in his first heat hit the wall off the start. On the restart he did it again at a much higher speed, flattening my front wheel, fuel tank, exhaust header, and cracking the front frame. Luckily he received only a bruise on this right hand. I didn't get to ride at all!
