Carson City Raceway Winchester, California
Firefighter Nite
August 20, 2005 - Carson City Raceway @ Fuji Park Speedway
By Gary Roberts
Despite a low rider turn out, last night's racing at Carson City was the best I have seen all season. Despite hot weather and strong winds, the track was excellent and the finale of the evening, the division 1 scratch main event demonstrated the confidence that the riders had in riding on it.
Results:
Scratch Main Event
1. Bryan Yarrow
2. Tommy Hedden
3. Jeremy Parsons
4. Bart Bast
What a race! Although Bryan Yarrow lead most of the race it was by less than half a bike length. Jeremy Parsons is by far the best prospect to have shown up from Upstate New York since I moved to America in 1982. He and Bryan gated, with Tommy and Bart in close pursuit. Positions changed every lap, and there was no more than a couple of bike lengths between first and last place at any time. Probably the best race I have seen since Jeremy Doncaster won the final race at Ascot.
Scratch Consolation Event
1. Danny Easley
2. Casey Donholt
3. Devin DeFreece
Jim Estes qualified for the race but mechanical problems made him a non-starter.
D1 others race
1. JJ Martynse
2. Bill Warnock
3. Shawn Eldridge
This win was small consolation for JJ Martynse who blew up an engine on its stand, then struggled all evening with a borrowed misfiring bike. Missing from this race was Kenny Ingalls who injured a shoulder earlier in the evening after a very successful D1 debut. Get well Kenny!

Division 3 Consolation Event
1. Jeff Irwin

4. Marty Williams
The rider turn out was disappointing, just as the crowd size is beginning to look healthier. Every rider I talked to had a good time and was pleased he/she showed up. I hope the turn out for the October 22 event is better.
My recollection of the evening will remain the outstanding D1 main event and the excellent performance by East Coast rider, Jeremy Parsons.
