Scott Brant returned to the Southern California speedway scene in perfect fashion by winning all of his races including the Scratch Main at The Grand in Industry Hills.

Brant, competing in his first meeting of 2005, jumped into the lead from gate two. Brant was followed by Jimmy Fishback, who was in the Scratch Main for the first time in his career. Brant opened a sizeable lead on the back straight while Shawn McConnell and Charlie Venegas went past Fishback. McConnell chased Brant but his efforts were futile as the 2003 National Champion won comfortably. McConnell finished second and Fishback passed Venegas to get third.

McConnell began the action by winning the opening heat. Buck Blair held off Bobby Schwartz to win the next heat. Venegas patiently worked past Brad Sauer to win his first race. Brant completed round one with his first win.

Venegas began the second round with another victory. McConnell made it two straight by defeating Blair in race 13. Schwartz took the win ahead of Shaun Harmatiuk in the next race. Brant closed round two by defeating Fishback.

Dario Galvin opened the final round with a victory that ultimately earned him a slot in the semis. Brant remained perfect by beating Blair in race 21. McConnell matched Brant's perfect score with a win over Venegas. Fishback impressively fought off Schwartz to win the final heat race.

McConnell easily won the first semi while Fishback was able to withstand every challenge Schwartz could throw at him to earn the other transfer to the main. Brant and Venegas finished first and second, respectively, after a thrilling side-by-side battle that brought the fans to their feet. Schwartz gated fast and won the Consolation.

The Second Division Main Event was dominated by Michael Hernandez who was never challenged en route to victory. Carl Gazafy finished second, Steve Dziadus Jr. was third, and Tommy Kistler finished fourth.

Dominic Maniaci started the Third Division Main in the front but was supplanted by Kerry Sorensen. Vince Giamformaggio put the pressure on Sorensen but was unable to get by and Sorensen had his first main event victory. Giamformaggio settled for second, Maniaci was third, Steve Dziadus Sr. finished fourth, Lee Crecelius was fifth, and Mark Skeels finished sixth.

Russell Green led the Youth Main Event until turn three when Austin Novratil took over. Novratil's lead only lasted one lap when he suffered a carbureter problem and handed the lead to Krystal Cramer. Cramer cruised from there and was first to the checkered flag. Joey Holt was second, Green finished third, and Novratil was fourth.
