Industry Hills Speedway The Grand Industry Hills Expo Center City of Industry, California
Season Closer
September 14, 2005 - Industry Hills Speedway
By: Ryan Evans
Scott Brant brought the 2005 Industry Hills season to a close by winning his third main event victory of the year in dramatic fashion to complete his perfect night.
Ryan Fisher was in gate one and got the best start in the main event. Brant was in gate four but was able to get into second on lap one. Fisher saw his comfortable lead whittled down over the first three laps before Brant made his move. Just after seeing the white flag Brant dove underneath Fisher as they entered turn one. Brant secured the position and surged ahead on the back straight. Fisher had no answer in the final corner and Brant was first to the finish line. Fisher settled for second, Tommy Hedden was third, and Bryan Yarrow finished fourth.
The track had more moisture than usual and was very grippy. Yarrow led the first heat before being passed by Nate Perkins and Jimmy Fishback who took first and second, respectively. Fisher led the next heat before Hedden passed him for the win. Buck Blair beat Shaun Harmatiuk to win the next heat. Brant won the final heat of round one.
Harmatiuk began round two with a win over Dale Facchini. Hedden made it two in a row with a victory over Perkins. Yarrow scored his first win by defeating Justin Boyle in race 15. Brant kept pace with Hedden by winnning the last race of the second round.
Brant beat Hedden in the battle of unbeatens to begin the final round. Yarrow beat Blair to win his second consecutive race. Harmatiuk made it two straight by beating Perkins. Fisher beat Fishback in the final heat race.
Brant won the first semi for his fourth straight win with Yarrow's second putting him in the main event as well. Hedden held off Fisher to win the second semi as both riders moved up the program to the main. Fishback won a fierce three-rider battle with Blair and Perkins in the Consolation.
Three attempts to run the Second Division Main Event left two riders on the penalty line and when Greg Vandemore fell on attempt number four the victory was awarded to Matt McBride. Eloy Medellin was credited with second, Rudy Laurer was third, and Vandemore was fourth.
Mark Skeels led all four laps to capture his second straight Third Division Main Event. Dominic Maniaci finished second, Mike Lane was third, and Wayne Isaac finished fourth.
Krystal Cramer wasted little time getting through traffic and assumed the lead after one lap. Cramer was still leading after the halfway point when a crash in turn two brought a halt to the race. Cramer was awarded her eleventh Industry Hills victory, but Joey Holt was down for a lengthy amount of time and left via stretcher. The worst fears were put to rest when it was revealed that he had suffered relatively minor leg injuries.
Joe Jones and Brandi McElroy dominated the Sidecar Main en route to victory. Kirk Williams and Jimmy Olsen were second, Dan Jones and Chris Levitt finished third, and Mark Adams and Jackie Bennett were fourth.
