1996 Paris Speedway Race Results

Another great summers evening, with over one hundred spectators, and
five of those travelled over three thousand miles to see this race. Gary Roberts from California, and
Steve Wright and his three friends from England had planned their Canadian
vacations with this race in mind. Click here for photo:
(Gary is second from left, Steve is on the right, I don't
remember the names of the other two from Britain). Wes Pierce made
a second guest appearance as the announcer for the evening. The American
riders from the last race returned and brought along Pat Renolds and Tim
Ford from Wheatley as well. Guy Fafard and his son Nicholas traveled ten
hours from Quebec to race here tonight.
The track crew had a perfect track ready for us. It was very fast and
the racing was very aggressive, causing several spectacular crashes.
Gary Hesmer and Jeff Orosz locked horns in the first turn of heat 15
forcing Jeff to ride a borrowed bike for the remainder of the night,
and gave Gary some painful bruises. I hit the back safety fence on the
third lap while leading heat 16. My bike spun into the path of Dean
Bencsics and that was the last that both bikes ran that night. The
surprise of the night was the appearance of the Muszynski brothers. This
was their first race since returning from Sweden in the
Canadian Speedway Team.
They were hot all night, and when the final was run, they finished
first and second.
