Eagle's Nest Ohsweken, Ontario, Canada
Speedway Season Opener
June 28, 1997 Eagles Nest
From: Kim Gregory
Our opening day at Eagle's Nest was not a race, as we could not be sure of how far the
construction of the track would be. It turned out we had the safety fence complete, and the
extra sand delivered. The sand was too deep in turn three and four, even after I spent
an hour dragging the track with my truck.
The riders that came out, did like turn one and two,
and did some laps for a show for the fifty spectators on hand from the motocross event
earlier. Gary and Chris Hesmer,
Dean Bencsics, and Biff from Maryland all did some laps. Biff's hand looks
good (he got it into his front wheel studs, ice racing this winter) but he says he has no
feeling in several fingers. He did a wheely around the entire track then tried to see how
to do turn three / four fast. He went into the wall a couple of times, and complemented us
later on our soft safety fence.
