Fast Fridays Speedway Gold Country Fairgrounds Auburn, California
1999 Week 4
Fast Fridays Speedway, Auburn, CA
Friday May 28, 1999
From Gary Roberts
After a superb American Final, it was back to the normal Fast Fridays program this week. Again the stands were packed and racing was good.
There were a number of crashes. The most serious involved Matt Becker, who suffered a concussion, but I am
told he is OK.

During the intermission there was a one-lap-dash elimination challenge, in the same style as is done at Costa
Mesa. Winner was Billy Janniro, from Jim Sisemore, Pat Linn, Bobby Hedden and Mike Faria.
The quad field was down on its normal numbers. I understand some of them turned up last week and were
disappointed not to be included in the American Final and this week took their services elsewhere. Personally, I
would prefer to watch Speedway than quads. Those quad guys were getting 3 rides per night. The bottom end of
the first division gets one handicap ride, more if they can take a place away from top first division riders. I would
prefer to see these guys have scratch races. In my humble opinion, quads dilute my Speedway!
