John Kehoe
got off to an excellent start in defense of his National Long-Track title by winning the first round of this year's championship at Quebec.
The track was deep, and loose, with some frozen patches underneath. As expected, the final was another in the series of close battles between Kehoe and,
Jeff Orosz
. Jeff had been pulling a consistent second place through the heats, got the start, and lead for the first half lap. His engine began misfiring, and a lap after Kehoe passed him,
Patrick Ahlund
took over second place. Jeff managed to hold off
Guy Fafard
for the rest of the race finishing third. Kehoe also had engine troubles, but was so far in the lead, it didn't make a difference.
For me, this weekend's race in Quebec City was a disaster. I couldn't start the bike! I spent five hours frantically pushing, disassembling, reassembling, and trying to con everyone I could to help push. It had spark, compression and fuel, but would not run. I lost three pounds!
