July 11, 1997 Paris Speedway
From: Kim (Do it sideways!) Gregory
The Paris track was loose with a few surprise spots in it and I finished
a careful LAST in my first 3 heats. I did find a smooth path through
turn 1 & 2 (TIGHT inside), and managed to draw gate 1 in my last heat.
Good start, inches from the leader (Biff) through turn one
( he didn't have his front wheel across the inside line like me!) .
Then he parked it. Down I went, shredding my leathers again!
I quickly got back on for the restart, tore down the back straight,
and the throttle cable stuck wide open. Crashed in turn three,
getting some good road rash.
Retired for the night! Off to soak in a tub of warm water!
New clutch (had to get one, most of the teeth were missing off my 3 spring)
is working good!
Ian March also had a tumble. He managed to get his foot jammed into
the rear frame of another bike, and was dragged 40 feet. He was back on
his feet by Sunday to be gate marshal at the first Eagle's Nest race.
